When to Purchase an Automatic Fire Sprinkler System | #ESC_LLC #SprinklerSaves #Fire #Sprinkler | Planning for and purchasing adequate fire protection for your new commercial or institutional building is an important part of the construction process. Although there are cases where sprinklers may not be necessary, there are by far many more that do.
The following is a quick guide that describes the situation under which fire sprinklers must be installed. There may be exceptions to these rules, and that’s why it’s always a good idea to chat with an ESC professional before you commit to purchasing a system from anyone under under the sun.
- If your new building exceeds 5,000 square feet, you need an automatic fire sprinkler system.
- If you do remodeling and it extends the space of your facility by 5,000 square feet or more, you need an automatic fire sprinkler.
- If you extend a single-tenant facility that requires the issuance of a new certificate of occupancy while increasing its size over 12,000 square feet, you will need an automatic fire sprinkler system.
- If the building you intend to build will be over 55 feet tall, you will need an automatic fire sprinkler.
In addition, when building commercial multi-family dwellings designed for more than two tenants, an automatic fire sprinkler system is required.
Before building, ESC can assist you in determining the size of sprinkler system required as well as that design and installation of intercoms, a camera system, and more.
