George Langford, owner of Protection Plus Systems in Newport News, is accused of accepting money for repairs or upgrades he did not make and not flagging issues in the restaurants, according to court records. In total, Langford, 71, faces 21 charges, and more may be on the way.
The falsified inspection documents caused at least eight restaurants to operate under the belief they were up to fire code. One owner told inspectors she “felt betrayed” by Langford, records state.
