Why Video Surveillance Is So Popular

For many years, it was intrusion detection via the common burglar alarm that served the security interests in both homes and commercial facilities-and they continue to do the same even now. But over the years it became obvious to security consultants that video surveillance provided a much needed component in the security equation; “Documentation.”

Here’s the rub. Most people buy on price, not quality. Sure, the sky’s the limit when it comes to picking a camera system. Why pay a zillion dollars when a $1200 system will do the job? That thought makes sense, but many times it’s a lack of understanding that drives the buyer to purchase that $1200 system when they actually expect results typical of a $2400 system.

Truthfully, to successfully buy a video surveillance system takes a lot of research, which takes time.

“My advice to you, if you’re going to purchase a video surveillance system, don’t skimp on quality,” says John Larkin, Senior Partner with ESC of Greater Ohio. “Go bigger and better than what you think you need and chances are, that will do the job.”
