The Time to Learn How to Use a Fire Extinguisher is Now, Not When There’s a Fire

The Time to Learn How to Use a Fire Extinguisher is Now, Not When There’s a Fire | #ESC_LLC #Fire #Extinguisher #Training | Fire extinguishers are your life line to life when faced with a fire in the workplace. Whether it’s an office space, a library full of books,an industrial application where there are highly explosive gases or liquids, or a restaurant, knowing 1) where every fire extinguisher is in the facility, and 2) how to use them is crucial to survival for yourself as well as all those you work with.

The first rule of thumb regarding number 1 above is that your fire extinguishers should be mounted near exits where they are easily found, and be sure there are no obstructions around them. Training is key, so if you’re involved in healthcare, such as a nursing home, group home, or hospital, you need to conduct live in-service sessions with your fire extinguisher company, like ESC of Greater Ohio.

“The following is a short 18-minute training video on how to use a fire extinguisher. Please take the time to watch it, and have those who work under you watch it as well. It’s critical that everyone in your organization understand the What, Where, When, Why, and how behind fire extinguisher use,” says John Larkin, ESC Senior Partner. “I invite you to call our office and ask questions. If you need one of our fire extinguisher professionals to inspect your existing fire extinguishers, or if you’re in need of additional ones, I invite you to call as well.”

ESC Fire Extinguisher Techs are Certified by the State of Ohio | #ESC_LLC #Fire #Extinguisher #Certification | It’s the owner, renter, manager’s responsibility to see that fire extinguishers are properly inspected, but the person who does the inspection must be trained and certified to do the work. The exception to this is where a professional, technical trainee is under the immediate care of a certified person, per Section 7.1.2.1.1 of NFPA 10, Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers, 2018 Edition.
