The yearly event, which was held at Quaker Station on Broadway in Akron, Ohio, is designed to bring small business, Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), and corporations based in Ohio, together in order to promote diversity, cooperation, and innovation.
“We routinely partner with Summit Magazine to sponsor the event. It gives us a unique opportunity to get to know important Summit County officials as well as other business executives. I’ve been involved with this event now for the past three years,” says John Larkin, ESC Senior Partner. “This year ESC sponsored a ‘Pitch Contest.’ Like shark tank, a panel of judges examine individual start-ups in an effort to determine which one’s are worthy of the organization’s support. This year we had six entrants, two of which were selected.”
The two winners of this year’s event were Donny Rodgers, owner of Room 38 Autobody, left; and Cassie McClellan, founder of Rubber City Resale, on the right (see photo).
